This 1 day course covers the content of the Level 1 course, however, it also includes the impact of drugs and alcohol has on our Mental Health.
This is a fascinating, interesting and such a useful day.
Mental health affects us all whether that’s feeling overwhelmed in the workplace or in general. We cover throughout the day the impact of anxiety, low mood, clinical depression or other conditions like Bipolar and Schizophrenia.
The whole concept of the training is as a Mental Health First Aider you begin to recognise the signs that a colleague is struggling and that you feel confident to actively listen and guide them to getting the right help.
For many people when they feel overwhelmed or out of control they can find it very difficult to ask for help or say that they are struggling! They will often withdraw from meaningful interactions with others, this unfortunately compounds the problem and increases their sense of isolation, sense of shame and fear of being judged by others. Also in the workplace individuals can feel if they speak up and say that their mental health is poor then this omission may impact their standing in the workplace.
The Mental Health First Aiders course is to raise awareness and skills so you can support your colleagues and help them realise that they are not on their ow. That there is professional and other help out there to support them.
